The main holiday in winter is new year. I love it because of its spirit of miracle. This new year was great as usual. At 11 pm our family gathered at a holiday table. There were a lot of tasty things as salads and caviar. At midnight we listened to the president’s speech and drank champagne to the new year. After that we all went outside and watched fireworks. There were a lot of people outside and we all wished each other happy new year. Then we went home and sang karaoke and danced a lot. That’s why I love new year!

The occasion is always fun. I like all the holidays and, of course, my birthday. I also like the may holidays, which my whole family happy first warm days. But still the most favorite holiday - New year. Unusual fairy-tale atmosphere to come to every home and pleases the eye with a Christmas tree. The air is filled with aroma of pine, tangerines and delicious pastries. In these mysterious, happy days everyone will find for itself, though small, but the most coveted and long-awaited gift. The new year is a period of hopes and dreams. We are committed to other events, creating new plans, hope for the best and expect the incredible from the new year - a clean slate. All waiting for a miracle when the clock strikes 12 and hope of fulfillment of desires. A tradition, can not do without mandarins, Christmas tree and champagne. My mum and I decorate our flat with tinsel of different colours. We also decorate the New Year tree with colourful lights, tinsel, toys and balls. In Russia all the cities are decorated and so is Krasnoyarsk. Families go shopping and buy various presents. My mother and I choose presents together. Some people make presents themselves. And all people put presents under the tree. The Russian people also prepare a traditional New Year dish. It’s a pancake. I like them very much. At New Year my family first cooks Russian salad. We cook meat in aspic, beetroot salad, chicken, potatoes, herrings in a “fur muff” and pickled vegetables. We also buy caviar and tangerines. They are delicious!
At Christmas people in Russia go to churches. At Christmastime they tell fortunes, eat pancakes, wear costumes and masks, and some people swim in an ice hole. In Krasnoyarsk is the river Yenisey. At Christmas “walruses” swim in it. In winter it is very cold to swim in the river but I know that they will be healthy. In the past the Russian people also sang “kolyadki”, danced in a circle and played near the bonfire at Christmas. It is dangerous. But in the past it was our tradition

На Рождество русские люди ходят в церковь. На Святки они гадают, едят блины, надевают костюмы и маски, а некоторые люди плавают в проруби. В Красноярске есть река Енисей. На Рождество " моржи" плавают в нем. Зимой плавать в реке очень холодно, но я знаю, что они будут здоровыми. В прошлом русские на Рождество также пели колядки, водили хоровод и прыгали через костер. MY FAVOURITE DAY IS NEW YEAR DAY. WE HAVE THE NEW YEAR DAY ON THE 31 ST DECEMBER. SANTA CLAUS COMES WITH HIS QRANDDAUQHTER ON HOLIDAY NIQHT. HE PUTS HIS PRESENT UNDER THE NEW YEAR TREE. In my opinion new years day is the best day of the year, because you feel the excitment of the ’’next year’’ the whole day. And that’s not all. I love decorating our house into an winter, new year and Christmas all at the same time! And of course, the most exciting part of all: when the time turns into 12.00. That feeling is just amazing. The feeling of starting things from zero, kissing my family members, calling to my friends, writing on a diary about my future plans of the new upcoming year.
 The new year holiday is certanly the best day of the year!
