 New Year is coming! There is a lot of snow outside, the weather is cold and frosty and there is a Christmas mood around. Children play snowballs and make a snowman in the yard.  I’m going to spend this holiday with my family. Finally all the family members are home and it is great! Before the clock strikes 12 on December 31st, we are going to gather around the table and have a festive dinner. My mom will cook a lot of delicious food and dad had already bought children champagne for me and my little brother. It is tradition to drink champagne at 12 pm. And after it we are going to go the yard to watch colorful and beautiful fireworks.
 I hope, we will have fun! And how are you going to spend this gorgeous day?

In the last latter you've mentioned that you're interested in our traditions and how we do celebrate New Year. For the first we decorate our flat, put a Christmas tree, decorate it too. Then i help my mom on the kitchen with the diner. We cook very tasty and different dishes. After that we invite our friends to join us. We have a diner, talk about everything, make jokes, sometimes singing. Then with the chime we give wishes to each other, make our own wishes, cheering each other, so we're in very good atmosphere. Such a magic moment. Then we have a walk till the morning, carrying on having fun. I like such moments of my life, they make me believe only in good things. (129)

The New Year is the day that marks the time of the beginning of a new calendar year, and is the day on which the year count of the specific calendar used is incremented. For many cultures, the event is celebrated in some manner.
The New Year of the Gregorian calendar, today in worldwide use, falls on 1 January, continuing the practice of the Roman calendar. There are numerous calendars that remain in regional use that calculate the New Year differently.
The order of months in the Roman calendar has been January to December since King Numa Pompilius in about 700 BC, according to Plutarch and Macrobius. According to the Christian tradition, 1 January is the day of the circumcision of Jesus (on the eighth day of his birth), when the name of Jesus was given to him (Luke 2:21).
It was only relatively recently that 1 January became the first day of the year in Western culture. Upto 1751 in England and Wales (and all the British King’s dominions) the new year started on 25 March - Lady Day, one of the four quarter days (the change to 1 January took place in 1600 in Scotland). Since then, 1 January has been the first day of the year. During the Middle Ages several other days were the first (1 March, 25 March, Easter, 1 September, 25 December).

With the expansion of Western culture to the rest of the world during the twentieth century, the 1 January date became global, even in countries with their own New Year celebrations on other days (such as China and Pakistan).
In the culture of Latin America there are a variety of traditions and superstitions surrounding these dates as omens for the coming year. January remains a symbol of the New Year’s celebration.
The most common modern dates of celebration are listed below, ordered and grouped by their appearance relative to the conventional Western calendar.
The Gregorian calendar is now used by many countries as the official calendar. This has meant that celebrations for the New Year have become much larger than before. Some countries(e. g. the Czech Republic and Italy) even consider 1 January to be a national holiday.

New Year is cooming! It is very amazing  holiday. It is known that on this event everyone puts Christmas tree in house. Traditionally on this holiday people  decorate Christmas tree with different toys. My family always start from the head of this tree. My father puts there a star that our Grand father gave to us. These thing is very dear to us. Then I put garland around the Christmas tree. After that my mother is decorating this tree with old toys that her mom gave. And we put some gifts under the Christmas tree to make interior more wonderful. I know that everyone love New Year because of gifts and don’t say that I’m wrong!

Children all over the world enjoy the New Year. They know Father Frost will come to give them presents. They like to have a fir-tree at home. It is fun to decorate it.

Today is the thirty-first of December. It’s New Year’s Eve. It is a very nice holiday. I like it very much because I usually have a lot of fun on that day.

Today I shall go to bed at half past twelve in the morning, not at nine o’clock in the evening as I usually do. Isn’t it nice?

My mother didn’t go to her office in the morning. Now she is busy in the kitchen. She is cooking a lot of tasty things.

Yesterday Dad brought home a big green Christmas tree. We put it in the sitting-room. The Christmas tree is beautiful. There are a lot of toys and lights of all colors: blue, red, yellow, green, and white. There is a big red star and a lot of little flags on the tree. There are some sweets and fruit on the tree, too.

At half past eleven we shall sit down at a holiday table. There will be a lot of tasty things on the table.

My Mummy and Dad will give presents and say, "Happy New Year, dear! This is a New Year’s present for you". I shall give them pictures which I drew for them last week.

I think Father Frost will come to me and bring something in his big bag. It’s nice to find a surprise under the Christmas tree in the morning.

In the UK, as in most European countries, celebrated on 24 to 25 December, the Nativity, considered the most important holiday of the year. During this night young Londoners are looking forward to the arrival of Santa Claus, or Father Christmas (Father Christmas).
A month before the holiday, the English decided to bring home a fir wreath (Advent Wreath) is a symbol of eternal well-being. According to tradition, woven together in a special way the branches of fir should decorate five Church candles, and then put them under the table. It is believed that elegant Christmas wreath to bless the food.
Walls and doors of homes are usually decorated with wreaths of Holly or mistletoe. These ornaments, usually decorated with berries, pine cones, ribbons and sequins. Every house will certainly dress up the Christmas tree, on top of which stand an angel or a Christmas star. Over the fireplace hang the stockings and socks for Santa — according to tradition, it is in them that the good man leaves the gifts. By the way, on Christmas day in the UK, decided to give each other about the same cost gifts.
Christmas is a religious holiday, so instead of meal prepared for the morning feast, the faithful Brits go to the Church service, which begins at midnight. After mass, everyone goes to their homes.

The 25th of December is Christmas Day in England. It’s a happy holiday for a lot of people in England.
Every year there is a big Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square in the centre of London. The streets in the city are decorated too.
Some weeks before Christmas English people are very busy. They buy presents for their families and friends and send greeting cards to them. People buy a Christmas tree and decorate it with toys, coloured balls and little coloured lights. Children write letters to Santa Claus.
On Christmas Eve people put their presents under the tree. When children go to bed, they put stockings near their beds. At night Santa comes with a big bag of presents for children. He puts sweets, small toys and apples into the children’s stockings. People open their presents on Christmas morning. They are very happy to get p presents. Then they have Christmas dinner and wish each other a merry Christmas.

New Year’s Day is a happy holiday. I like it very much. It is in the middle of winter and there is a lot of snow on the ground, on the houses and on the trees. My friends and I like to play in the yard, we play snowballs and make a snowman. We do not go to school because we have winter holidays at that time.
On the 31st of December Mother comes home from work early. She begins to prepare good things for the New Year party, and mf sister helps her.
Father brings home a green New Year Tree. We put it in the middle of the living-room and my sister Nelly and I put toys, small flags and lights of all colours on it. The New Year Tree looks very nice with red, green, blue and yellow lights on it.
After dinner the door opens and Father Frost comes in. He has a big bag with presents in it. He says, "I wish you a Happy New Year. Here are New Year presents for you” and gives presents to my little sister and me. We are happy to get presents from him.
Then we watch TV and go to bed only at ten o’clock.
On the 1st of January I get up early in the morning and run to the living-room. There under the tree I see presents for Nelly and me from Dad and Mum.
Then Father and Mother come into the room. I thank them for their presents and give them my présent — a picture of our family. I say, “Happy New Year” and they answer ‘The same to you.”
In the afternoon my friend comes to see me. We wish each other a Happy New Year and go for a walk.

Here come the New Year! My friends and I was looking forward this holiday and we are diligently preparing for him. Dad brought a big tree and the boys dressed her. Put on top of the angel, branches decorated with garlands and balloons, hang a lot of glare. We put under the Christmas tree Santa Claus and Snow Maiden, and the room was decorated with all kinds of snowflakes, garlands and serpentine. It was very beautiful. Adults have been praised for our effort, and promised that Santa always bring us gifts. We looked forward to this moment, and every five minutes, looked under the Christmas tree. But the gifts did not come. We were very sorry, and mother, that would distract us and called for tea and cake. Then we played games and participated in competitions. It was great fun and we forgot about what is to come Santa Claus. And when it’s time to break up, one of the guys looked under the tree and found a pile of presents. Everyone got what he had dreamed. Everyone was very happy. Here I had a New Year!
