The composition « Olympic games »

The tradition of Olympic games goes from Ancient Greece. We know, that the first Olympic games were carried out(spent) in city Олимпия more than 2700 back. For five days in the country all wars stopped and the sports competitions were spent. It was the remarkable sports holiday of struggle, competitions in run, throwing of a disk and other kinds of sports. The games were organized and were spent down to 393 years. Then more than 1700 about Olympiads nothing was audible. The first modern Olympic games were carried out(spent) in Athenes in 1896. They are spent each four years. The games are not spent in the country, which is in a condition of war. That is why during two world wars Olympic иф was not. During Olympic games the competitions and competitions on many kinds of sports are spent. The competitions on years(summer) kinds of sports are spent in the summer, during years(summer) Olympic games. The winter Olympic games are spent in the same year, but in other country. The famous sportsmen consider(count) as honour to participate in games. They compete in football, volleyball, basketball, boxing, heavy and easy athletics, gymnastics, rowing and many other years(summer) kinds of sports. During winter Olympic games many commands(teams) from the various countries take part in competitions on figured driving, ski sports, freestyle, hockey and other kinds of winter sports. The Olympic games are very popular in our country. All fans(amateurs) of sports look games on the TV, and many from them observe events alive and support the national commands(teams).

The Olympic Games are a major international event and they house different competitions in summer and winter sports.
And now a little bit of the history of the Olympics. The Olympic Games began more than two thousand years ago. Since then they are still the grounds of competition for the worlds greatest athletes. At the very beginning the Olympic games used to be a competition for the citizens of ancient Greece and of other nearby countries. And now they have developed into a worldwide, commercially oriented event.
The early Olympic Games started in 776 B. C in ancient Greece. Greek people found those games so important that they used periods in between the Games to date important historical events. The winner of the Games got very good prizes – free food and housing for life. Poets mentioned the winners in their poems, architects made sculptures of winner athletes, and they became popular throughout Greece. So, winning the Olympic Games made you a national hero. It was already an honor to take part in the Games. People from Italy, Sicily, Asia, Africa, and Spain all made the long way to Olympia. And all the famous people of the time attended the Games. Olympia was chosen as a sight of the Games because it was seen as a neutral area. It was also a beautiful green valley accessed by two rivers. The Olympia was also the place where the wild olive tree grew. And the Crown Olive became the only prize won at Olympia. One Persian leader who fought against Greece noticed that Greek people loved fighting not for gold and money but purely for the sake of excelling. Originally there was only one race. It was a sprint and the winners got a prize - an olive wreath. Time went on and other races and other sports were added like boxing and wrestling.
In 1894 baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee. In the 20th century Winter Olympic Games were created for ice and snow sports. The Olympic Games now are held every 2 years Winter Olympic Games coming after Summer Olympic Games. Then the Paralympic Games were added for people with physical disabilities and Youth Olympic Games for teenage athletes. The growing importance of the Mass Media made the Olympic Games commercial.
There are over 13,000 athletes that compete at Summer and Winter Olympics in 33 different sports and nearly 400 events. The first, second and third place winners in each event receive gold, silver or bronze Olympic medals, respectively.
The Games now give the chance to different sportsmen to get national or even international fame. And the Games also give an opportunity for the host city and country to show themselves to the world.

Many Russians still remember the day, when the international Olympic Committee made a decision on carrying out of Winter Olympic games of 2014 in Russia, in the city of Sochi. Olympiad of Sochi 2014Это was a real holiday for the whole country - here it is, the recognition of the world community, here they are, a good change after the crisis years. They were glad, and themselves residents of Sochi, for which from that moment began a completely new life, in spite of the fact that the city has always been in the center of attention of tourists. Forests of the Western Caucasus (the Caucasus state biosphere nature reserve) are generally protected by UNESCO.
Let us return to the sights. Plans grandiose. By 2014 it is planned to turn Sochi into a world-class resort. Built 182 of the infrastructure, engineering networks are being upgraded and reconstructed the coastline. For the convenience of all the facilities of the Olympiad are divided into clusters: the Coastal cluster is located in the area of Adler, on the coast. In the Coastal cluster will be built the Olympic Park, which will bring together all the sports facilities and parks along the coast. Already in 2013 will open the Olympic stadium «Fisht», located in the Olympic Park. The translucent roof organically fit into the landscape of the Caucasus mountains - from the stadium will look just like one of the other snow-capped peaks. But do not think that at the end of the Games the Olympic objects will be abandoned. Certainly, there will be mass entertainment events.
In another Olympic object - the Palace of Winter Sports «iceberg» - will be held competitions in figure skating, and after the Games Palace can «move» in any other Russian city - it is very easy to dismantle and transport.

Australia is a huge island plus the island of Tasmania. It is an enormous country-nearly 8 million km2. The population is 20 million people. The capital is Canberra but the largest city is Sydney with a population of just over 4 million. The climate is different: the north is tropical and the south is temperate. The centre of Australia is very dry and is a desert. There are many beautiful places to visit, for example: the Great Barrier Reef, tropical forests of Queensland, Snowy Mountains and the central desert.
