My timetable is overloaded sometimes, but I find time to do the things that I like. When I’m free, I read an interesting book, listen to music, meet up with friends or go cycling around the lake. When I want to learn something new about the world, I turn on the TV. My favorite channel is Discovery. I watch this channel since childhood and I must say that thanks to it my perception of the world became richer. I’ve learned many interesting things, connected with science, technology and history. In fact, Discovery comes in many different languages. So, when I want to improve my listening skills I watch it in English. This channel was launched in 1985 in the USA. Originally it consisted only of documentary programs about popular science. However, later it expanded into reality television and soon it became one of the best channels of non-fiction programming in the world. Apart from series of scientific documentaries the channel has several programs aimed at younger audience. Today, Discovery is watched in 170 countries across the world. It’s a commercial channel, so we pay for a monthly fee for having it. In my opinion, such channels are not only entertaining, but highly educational. Unfortunately, I’m allowed to watch TV for no longer than three hours a day. All I get to see is just a couple of programs. My favorite ones are “How it’s made” and “MythBusters”.

I really like National Geographic channel because of it’s interesting documentary videos. It is very good to know about what happens in nature. It talks about animal life and their survival. I like watching new and interesting films, funny cartoons and entertaining programs on TV. That is why I prefer the STS channel. I can see different shows and serials on this channel. And there are no political programs and talk-shows at all. Among a wide variety of popular serials my favorite are «Kitchen» and «Angelika». The «Kitchen» is about restaurant's workers and their relationships. The «Angelika» tells us about the adventure of a fat girl, who all of a sudden loses her weight and becomes slim. Also I enjoy watching a new programme «Big, small star». It is a weekly programme and usually shown on Sundays. Each week the presenter of the program Nikolay Baskov invites popular actors, singers and sportsmen with their children and they compete with each others. I think this programme is interesting not only for children but also for adults. So if you want to relax and have fun I advice to watch the STS channel.

Millions of people are fond of watching TV. There are a lot of different programs on TV and many people can’t imagine their life without it. My parents spend a lot of time watching everything.
But not me. Frankly speaking, I don’t like watching TV at all. I think that it’s a waste of time, because there is so much interesting that you can do instead of just sitting and staring at the screen. That’s why it’s very difficult to speak about my favorite program as I haven’t got any. Still I can say what program may be interesting for me. I like animals and I know nearly everything about them. That’s why I sometimes can afford to watch something like ’Animals in the world’ just to enjoy the view of beautiful wild animals in the wild and to learn something new about their habits.
But I really prefer doing sports, playing games in the open air and taking part in different sport competitions or just spending time with my friends.
