Edgar Allan Poe was an outstanding American writer, poet and essayist. He was born on January 19, 1809, in the acting family. When Edgar was still little his mother died, while his father left their family long before that. As a result, he was adopted by John Allan’s family who was a rich merchant.

Later on, he was educated at a prestigious boarding school in England. At the age of fifteen he entered a prestigious university. As a student he was often seen gambling and drinking, which provoked a series of conflicts with his stepfather. After one of such conflicts he left his home.

His literary career began around 1827, when he published a collection of poems. As a serious writer he launched his first book in 1833. It was called “A manuscript found in a bottle”. Starting from 1840s he worked on a number of detective stories, which brought him national recognition.

Among his literary characters I can think of Auguste Dupin. He combines his considerable intellect with creative imagination, even putting himself in the mind of the criminal. Dupin was not a policeman, but he solved the crime, using newspaper information. His talents are strong enough that he appears able to read the mind of his companion, the unnamed narrator of all three stories. Poe created the Dupin character before the word «detective» had been coined.

The writer died in 1849 at the age of forty.  Posthumous fame of Edgar Allan Poe is huge. His original style of writing has found many followers. The subjects of his books brought to life several directions in the literature.

Writer - a person who is engaged in the creation of verbal works intended in one way or another for public consumption (and not only for the direct recipient). The writer is usually called the person for whom the specified class is the main or a major. Русский писатель, философ. Родился в Ясной Поляне, Тульской губернии, в богатой аристократической семье. Поступил в Казанский университет, но затем оставил его. В 23-летнем возрасте отправился на войну с Чечней и Дагестаном. Здесь начал писать трилогию «Детство», «Отрочество», «Юность».
В 1863—1869 гг. Написал свое фундаментальное произведение «Война и мир». В 1873—1877 гг. Создал роман «Анна Каренина». В эти же годы полностью сформировалось мировоззрение писателя, известное под названием «толстовство», суть которого просматривается в произведениях: «Исповедь», «В чем моя вера?», «Крейцерова соната».
28 октября 1910 г. Толстой тайно от семьи покинул Ясную Поляну, в дороге заболел и вынужден был сойти с поезда на маленькой железнодорожной станции Астапово Рязано-Уральской железной дороги. Здесь, в доме начальника станции он провел последние семь дней своей жизни. Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910 gg.)
Russian writer and philosopher. He was born in Yasnaya Polyana, Tula province, in a wealthy aristocratic family. Entered the University of Kazan, but then left it. At the age of 23 went to war with Chechnya and Dagestan. Here began writing the trilogy "Childhood", "Adolescence", "Youth".
In the 1863-1869 period. wrote his fundamental work "War and Peace." In the 1873-1877 period. created a novel "Anna Karenina." October 28, 1910, Tolstoy secretly left the family Yasnaya Polyana, the road became ill and was forced to get off the train at a small railway station Astapovo Ryazan-Ural Railway. Here, in the house of the chief of the station, he has spent the last seven days of his life.

George Gordon Byron (22.01.1788 - 19.04.1824) - English writer and poet. The well-known writer was born on January 22nd in 1788 in London. From the very childhood Byron suffered from physical disability, which influenced greatly his life. Byron visited Spain, Greece, Albania and some other countries. His exciting journey lasted for two years and that was the time when he started working on his successful poem “Child Harold’s Pilgrimage”.
He returned from the trip in 1811 and year later his poem was published.  In 1815 Byron married to Anabella Milbenk, who gave birth to his daughter a year later.  However this marriage didn’t last; the couple soon divorced. In 1823 he fell seriously ill and a year later the great poet died.

Толстой Лев Николаевич (28 августа 1828, усадьба Ясная Поляна Тульской губернии — 7 ноября 1910, станция Астапово (ныне станция Лев Толстой) Рязано-Уральской ж. Д. ) — граф, русский писатель.

Первые годы жизни Толстого прошли в имении родителей Ясная Поляна недалеко от города Тулы. Очень рано, в полуторагодовалом возрасте, он потерял мать Марию Николаевну, женщину эмоциональную и решительную. Толстой знал много семейных рассказов о матери. Образ ее был овеян для него самыми светлыми чувствами. Отец, Николай Ильич, отставной полковник, дружил с декабристами Исленьевым и Колошиным. Он отличался гордостью и независимостью в отношениях с представителями власти. Для Толстого-ребенка отец был воплощением красоты, силы, страстной, азартной любви к радостям жизни. От него он унаследовал увлечение псовой охотой, красоту и азарт которой много лет спустя Толстой выразил на страницах романа Война и мир в описании травли волка гончими старого графа Ростова.

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky was a Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist, journalist and philosopher. He began writing in his 20s, and his first novel, Poor Folk, was published in 1846 when he was 25. Born in Moscow in 1821, Dostoyevsky was introduced to literature at an early age through fairy tales and legends, and through books by Russian and foreign authors. His mother died in 1837 when he was 15, and around the same time he left school to enter the Nikolayev Military Engineering Institute. After graduating, he worked as an engineer and briefly enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, translating books to earn extra money. In the mid-1840s he wrote his first novel, Poor Folk, which gained him entry into St. Petersburg’s literary circles. In the following years, Dostoyevsky worked as a journalist, publishing and editing several magazines of his own and later A Writer’s Diary, a collection of his writings. He began to travel around western Europe and developed a gambling addiction, which led to financial hardship. For a time, he had to beg for money, but he eventually became one of the most widely read and highly regarded Russian writers. His books have been translated into more than 170 languages.

Leo Tolstoy (August 28, 1828, the estate of Yasnaya Polyana in Tula Province - 7 November 1910 Astapovo station (now the station Leo Tolstoy) Ryazan-Ural railroad.) - Earl, Russian writer. The first years of Tolstoy’s life took place in his parents’ estate Yasnaya Polyana, near the town of Tula. Very early, at the age of eighteen months, he lost his mother, Maria Nikolaevna, a woman emotional and strong. Tolstoy knew many family stories about my mother. The image of her was fanned for him the lightest feelings. Father Nikolai Ilyich, a retired colonel, was a friend of the Decembrists and Islenevym Koloshin. He had a pride and independence in relations with the authorities. For Tolstoy, the father was the epitome of beauty, strength, passionate, love of gambling pleasures of life. From him he inherited a passion for hunting with hounds, the beauty and excitement that many years later Tolstoy expressed in the pages of the novel War and Peace in the description of harassment wolf hounds old Count Rostov

Биография великого русского поэта и писателя Пушкина Александра Сергеевича началась 6-ого июня 1799-ого года в Москве. Ещё с момента рождения его знаменитое будущее было предопределено – он рос в литературной среде. Его родной дядя был известным поэтом, среди гостей которого можно было встретить Карамзина, Дмитриева, Жуковского и многих других известных деятелей литературы. Да и отец маленького Пушкина много внимания уделял развитию ребёнка, очень рано приучил его к чтению. Огромное влияние на становление личности Пушкина оказала его няня Арина Родионова, которой поэт в будущем посвятит немало своих произведений. В основу некоторых из них лягут сказки, которые няня рассказывала маленькому Александру Сергеевичу. Эту добрую женщину поэт будет вспоминать и любить всю свою жизнь.

Sympathy, compassion. If you think about the meaning of these words, then you know what they stand for shared experience some feelings ( co- feeling), suffering ( co- suffering). This means together with other experience their joys and sorrows, their misery and suffering. And not just to empathize - to help as much as possible. Whether they are necessary in modern life? Writers of the 20th century give this question a definite answer. Yes, we need.
   A good example of the manifestation of sympathy, compassion can serve Lydia M. V. Rasputin tale heroine " French Lessons ". Charles Dickens is the famous English writer. He was born on the 7 of February in 1812. He was born in a poor family/ When Charles Dickens was ten  his father was put in pirson because he had debts and the boy had to work. He began to work in blacking factory. Later he discribe this period of his life in his novel "David Copperfield".  When he was 25 years old he became one of the most famous and best newspaper reporters in London. "The Pick- wick Papers" was the first great work which was published in April, 1836. In the last years of his life Dickens began to meet with his readers and gave public readings from his own works. He died in the summer,1870
