Маленький рассказ о музее "Мадам Тюссо"

Madam Tussaud’s is the most popular waxworks museum in the world. There are wax models of the famous and infamous, both living and dead. You can meet great characters of history and art. There are actors, film stars, pop-singers, criminals, politicians and members of the Royal family here. There is a place where you can see all the celebrities at once. The museum is situated in Marylebone Road, not far from the street which is famous as the home of the first great detective in fiction, Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. There are several halls at Madam Tussaud’s: the Grand Hall, the Chamber of Horrors and The Spirit of London exhibition. The wax figures are extremely realistic. When they look at you their eyes are sparkling and you feel uncomfortable. Computer-controlled figures (audioanimatronics) are especially popular with the visitors. Their speech and sound are recordered onto CDs and synchronized with the movements. In the Grand Hall you will find all kinds of celebrities and there is a special place for the Royal family. Most people agree to be portrayed, but some refuse. Mother Teresa was one of the few who declined, saying her work was important, not her person.

museum is a place where antique things and art are preserved so the public can see it.  Those who want to have looked into past can visit museum.  It offers the visitor a glimpse into the past culture of the city or a country and collection of rare things and things of historical interest. Last Sunday I visited our city museum with my friends. Its name is Sardar Museum. It is located in the central area of my city. There was a huge building with many sections. First we took entrance tickets from the ticket window.

In first section we saw many pictures of famous kings, great personalities and statesmen. These pictures were hung on the wall. Some of these were drawn purely from the imagination. We saw some of the statues of different saints and idols of gods and goddesses too.

Second section is large collection of old daggersswordsshields, weapons, ornaments and coins from different era. We saw writings on parchments and backed clay.

In another section, we saw model house of olden days with curved chairs, tables, cots, swings and stone grinder. There were pots, spoons, plates and other utensils on a table.

To visit the museum is an education in itself and for this reason it is visited by hundreds of people every day. I was fascinated to see the museum and progress of men through the ages.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself that day at the Sardar Museum. I realise how valuable museums are because they can teach people about so many things.

Was recently evaluated Museum, and experts came to the conclusion that Madame Tussauds is worth about a billion pounds, which is about 2 billion dollars.
Despite the fact that now is a Museum, it is hard to imagine that it all began with the fact that Marie Tussaud was searching through the graves of Royal people, removing their mask to make their figures. Then she probably had no idea that her creations are so popular.
A separate part of the Museum and directions of work of the Museum is an exhibition of works by Jeff wall.

Madame Tussauds is a famous wax museum in London with branches in a number of major cities. It was set up by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud.

Marie Tussaud (1761–1850) was born Marie Grosholtz in Strasbourg, France. Her mother worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Philippe Curtius, who was a physician skilled in wax modelling. Curtius taught Tussaud the art of wax modelling. In 1765, Curtius made a waxwork of Marie-Jeanne du Barry, Louis XV’s mistress. A cast of that mould is the oldest work currently on display. The first exhibition of Curtius’ waxworks was shown in 1770, and attracted a large audience. The exhibition moved to the Palais Royal in Paris in 1776. He opened a second location on Boulevard du Temple in 1782, the "Caverne des Grands Voleurs", a precursor to the later Chamber of Horrors.

Madame Tussauds in New York CityTussaud created her first wax figure, of Francois Marie Arouet de Voltaire, in 1777. Other famous people she modelled at that time include Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Benjamin Franklin. During the French Revolution she made wax death masks of prominent victims. She would search through corpses to find the decapitated heads of the citizens which the death masks were to depict. When Curtius died in 1794, he left his collection of waxworks to Marie. In 1802, she went to London. As a result of the Franco-English war, she was unable to return to France, so she travelled throughout Great Britain and Ireland exhibiting her collection. For a time, it was displayed at the Lyceum Theatre. She established her first permanent exhibition on Baker Street in London in 1835 (on the "Baker Street Bazaar").
